As of December 1, 2009, a new municipal tax will apply in Quebec to help fund 911 emergency centres. Set at 40 cents per month by the Government of Quebec, this tax is collected by telephone service providers who remit the required amounts to Revenu Québec. This tax is in addition to the standard 911 Emergency Service fee.
